Healthy Waterways Award Finalists

Hilder Road State School has two finalists in the Healthy Waterways Awards.

Individual Waterway Stewardship – Volunteer of the Year Finalist - Sharon Crabbe.
·       Sharon Crabbe’s dedication, environmental advocacy and leadership single-handedly inspired our entire school community to take action to restore our local waterway. After identifying weed infestation and degradation in Fish Creek, Sharon liaised with council and local groups to develop a restoration plan and secure over $45,000 to improve the Creek.
 
School and Education Stewardship – Water Warriors Finalist - The Fish Creek Project
·       This project mobilized over six hundred volunteers to restore a six hundred square metre section of Fish Creek. The project also resulted in the website, Fish Creek 4061, which is being used throughout the school and local community.
