The Hilder Road State School Library is a vibrant and welcoming space where students can read, learn, socialise and explore under the guidance of our full-time, qualified Teacher Librarian. It is a shared resource that belongs to the entire school community, fostering a love for learning and literacy. The library also houses our Learning Technology Hub, equipped with specialised hardware and software to support students in developing essential digital skills.
Students are encouraged to borrow books weekly during their scheduled class visits, with additional opportunities to borrow outside of these times. The library is open every day during first break, providing a dedicated space for students to engage with books, digital resources and each other. Our extensive collection includes thousands of books spanning fiction, junior fiction, and non-fiction, offering students a world of adventure and intrigue along with knowledge and facts. The library is also a place for collaboration and creativity, where students can enjoy games, drawing activities and comfortable reading areas, all in a friendly environment. We welcome student suggestions to enhance the usability and enjoyment of this space.
The Learning Technology Hub, located within the library, is a flexible, technology-rich learning environment featuring a computer lab, high-quality laptops, and a digital screen. With the experience of our trained Information Technology support teacher, this space supports students and teachers in achieving curriculum goals while developing essential 21st-century skills through e-learning activities.
The Magic of Reading at home – Online Resource
Hilder Road State School provides students with access to our online Library Management System, Concord Infiniti, which allows them to explore and borrow from our extensive collection of physical books and digital resources, including eBooks through SORA. Families receive login details to access these valuable learning tools from home, ensuring that the magic of reading and discovery is always within reach.
