Languages at Hilder Road State School – Exploring the World Through Mandarin

At Hilder Road State School, we are proud to offer Mandarin as part of our languages program, providing students with the opportunity to develop valuable communication skills while gaining a deeper understanding of Chinese culture and traditions. Led by our passionate teacher, Ms Jeffrey, our language program caters to students in Years 4, 5 and 6, fostering a love for language learning in an engaging and supportive environment.

Engaging and Interactive Learning

Our Mandarin program is designed to be fun, immersive and interactive, helping students build confidence in listening, speaking, reading and writing. Through hands-on experiences, students explore:

  • Conversational Mandarin – Practical phrases and everyday language
  • Cultural Experiences – Traditional customs and festivals
  • Writing System – Pinyin and Chinese characters
  • Songs, Games & Stories – Learning through play and storytelling

By studying Mandarin, our students gain insight into one of the world's oldest and most influential cultures while developing essential language skills for the future.

Our Years 4, 5 and 6 Mandarin program provides a strong foundation for continued language studies, preparing students for further learning in high school and beyond. Whether practising a new phrase, celebrating Chinese New Year, or exploring the beauty of Chinese calligraphy, our students embrace the joy of language learning in a dynamic and inclusive environment.
