​A Premier Football Program for Young Athletes in Our Community

At Hilder Road State School, we're excited to introduce the Hilder Road Rising Stars Football Squad—a dynamic soccer development program open to young footballers in our school and the wider community! Established in 2018, this program is designed to develop well-rounded athletes while fostering a love for the game in a fun, structured, and competitive environment.

Many of our past students have risen to success on the football field, representing club, state, and national teams, including Australian squads. This premier football program provides young players with high-quality training, skill development, and competitive opportunities.

Mrs Lea Robertson is a dedicated footballer with over 20 years football coaching experience. Mrs Robertson holds a C Diploma Coaching licence from Football Australia and currently coaches Women's and Football Queensland Academy teams and skills clinics at the Gap Football Club.  Lea currently plays in the Open Women's Premier League (FQPL) team and is Female Football Ambassador for the club.  Lea has supported and coached the Hilder Road Futsal Program since its inception and is passionate about sport as an enabler for students to build resilience, confidence, teamwork, friendships and a lifelong love of a physical and healthy lifestyle.

Does your child love football? Are they eager to develop their skills, compete in exciting tournaments, and be part of a team that values sportsmanship, teamwork, and discipline? If so, the Hilder Road Rising Stars Football Squad is the perfect place for them to grow, learn, and excel!

The squad trains weekly throughout the year, focusing on building technical ability, tactical awareness, physical fitness, and mental resilience. Players will also have the opportunity to represent Hilder Road in high-level competitions, showcasing their skills on the field.

Why Join the Hilder Road Rising Stars Football Squad?

Through weekly training sessions, players will develop in key areas, including:

⚽ Technical Excellence – Mastering passing, shooting, dribbling, and one-on-one play with real-game resistance.
⚽ Tactical Awareness – Understanding attacking and defensive strategies, decision-making, and in-game adaptability.
⚽ Physical Conditioning – Boosting speed, agility, coordination, strength, and endurance through targeted drills.
⚽ Mental Strength – Sports psychology techniques to build confidence, resilience, and focus on and off the field.

Training Schedule

Squad members will attend at least one session per week led by Mrs Robertson.

Compete & Represent Hilder Road State School

Squad members will have the chance to compete in multiple tournaments, gaining valuable game experience and representing Hilder Road with pride:

🏆 Brisbane Metro Futsal School Championships – February 28, Nissan Arena
🏆 Aspley Eagles Outdoor Soccer Competition – September 14, Aspley High School
🏆 Primary School Futsal Competition – November 15, Nissan Arena

(Tournament dates subject to change, with additional opportunities for progressing teams.)

Rising Dancers​

Hild​​er Road State School is thrilled to launch Rising Dancers, a dynamic new dance program for students in Years 3-6. Led by experienced performing arts educator Mrs Jen Maskiell, this program offers a welcoming and inclusive space for students to develop their dance skills, build confidence, and express themselves creatively. Whether beginners or experienced dancers, students will explore a variety of styles, including contemporary, jazz, ballet, hip hop, and musical theatre.

Classes run Wednesday mornings from 7:45–8:45am at the school, with an end-of-year performance showcasing students' progress and passion for dance. Introducing Hilder Road Rising Dancers: A Unique Dance Program at Hilder Road State School

This year, Hilder Road State School is excited to introduce Rising Dancers, a brand-new and one-of-a-kind dance program for students in Years 3-6. As the first year of this exciting initiative, Rising Dancers offers students a unique opportunity to develop their dance skills, express themselves creatively, and build confidence in a fun, safe and inclusive environment.

Mrs Jen Maskiell, is a dedicated performing arts educator with 18 years of experience across both the dance sector and school Performing Arts programs. A highly accomplished dance teacher, she specialises in contemporary, ballet, jazz, tap, hip-hop and musical theatre. Passionate about inspiring young dancers, Mrs Maskiell is excited to lead this quality program, fostering creativity, confidence and a love and passion for movement.

This program will allow students to experience a variety of dance styles, including contemporary, jazz, ballet, hip hop and musical theatre, helping them develop a strong foundation in movement and performance. Whether they are complete beginners or have previous dance experience, Hilder Road State School Rising Dancers provides a welcoming space for all students to grow, learn and enjoy the art of dance.

Beyond improving technique, the program focuses on building coordination, musicality, self-expression, and teamwork. Dance is not only a fantastic way for students to stay active, but it also helps boost confidence and creativity, encouraging them to take pride in their achievements.

For students already attending external dance studios, Hilder Road State School Rising Dancers serves as an excellent complement to their existing training, offering additional opportunities to learn new styles and perform on stage. The program will culminate in an end-of-year performance, where students will have the chance to showcase their progress, talent, and love for dance in front of an audience.

As an in-school program, Hilder Road State School Rising Dancers allows students to develop their skills without interfering with their academic commitments. For those passionate about dance, it also provides a strong foundation for future opportunities, whether within school-based programs or external dance pathways.

This marks the beginning of an exciting new tradition at Hilder Road State School, and we can't wait to see our students take the stage, grow in confidence, and experience the joy of movement. If your child loves to dance or is eager to try something new, Hilder Road State School Rising Dancers is the perfect opportunity to learn, create and perform!

Selection Process: 
In the event, that we exceed our enrolment number in EOI forms. The dance coordinator and another staff member will use the selection criteria below, along with an audition to select the Rising Dancers team. The audition will be in the form of a regular dance class.  
Selection Criteria: 
  1. Positive Attitude to Learning – Demonstrates enthusiasm, openness to feedback, and a willingness to improve. 
  2. Commitment and Discipline – Shows dedication to training, consistent effort, and perseverance in developing skills. 
  3. Body Control and Awareness – Exhibits focus, coordination, and kinaesthetic awareness in movement. 
  4. Active Engagement – Participates fully in regular school classes. 
  5. Academic Commitment – Displays dedication to schoolwork. 
  6. Consistent Attendance – Demonstrates reliability through high attendance at school. 
All students will be notified of the outcome by parent email. 

Classes will be held from 7:45am-8.45am each Wednesday morning before School.

The cost of the program is $250 for the year plus costumes and transport to events
