Introducing Hilder Road Rising Dancers: A Unique Dance Program at Hilder Road State School
Now in its second year, Rising Dancers continues to provide students in Years 3–6 with a unique opportunity to develop their dance skills, express themselves creatively, and build confidence in a fun, safe, and inclusive environment. Since launching last year, the program has quickly become a valued part of the Hilder Road State School community, encouraging students to grow not only as dancers, but also as confident and creative young people.
Led by experienced performing arts educator Mrs Jen Maskiell, students participate in engaging weekly classes exploring a range of dance styles while developing teamwork, performance skills, and self-expression. Rising Dancers celebrates every student’s individuality and provides opportunities for students of all experience levels to shine.
This program will allow students to experience a variety of dance styles, including contemporary, jazz, ballet, hip hop and musical theatre, helping them develop a strong foundation in movement and performance. Whether they are complete beginners or have previous dance experience, Hilder Road State School Rising Dancers provides a welcoming space for all students to grow, learn and enjoy the art of dance.
Beyond improving technique, the program focuses on building coordination, musicality, self-expression, and teamwork. Dance is not only a fantastic way for students to stay active, but it also helps boost confidence and creativity, encouraging them to take pride in their achievements.
For
students already attending external dance studios, Hilder Road State School Rising Dancers serves as an excellent complement to their existing training, offering additional opportunities to learn new styles and perform on stage. The program will culminate in an end-of-year performance, where students will have the chance to showcase their progress, talent, and love for dance in front of an audience.
As an in-school program, Hilder Road State School Rising Dancers allows students to develop their skills without interfering with their academic commitments. For those passionate about dance, it also provides a strong foundation for future opportunities, whether within school-based programs or external dance pathways.
This marks the beginning of an exciting new tradition at Hilder Road State School, and we can't wait to see our students take the stage, grow in confidence, and experience the joy of movement. If your child loves to dance or is eager to try something new, Hilder Road State School Rising Dancers is the perfect opportunity to learn, create and perform!
